Summary: |
This German-language report from the German state of Baden-Württemberg describes safety aspects of nanomaterials. Knowledge gaps in safety data make it difficult to ascertain the appropriate regulatory level, and there are no specific occupational exposure limits for nanomaterials currently set. Established and proven protective measures should be undertaken, such as replacement of problematic materials (substitution), technological protective measures, organizational protective measures, and personal protection. Reliable long-term employment exposure limits need to be established as well as exposure scenarios under REACH, but until sufficient safety data is collected, this remains a distant goal. The lack of a reporting requirement for manufacturers and users of nanomaterials also creates an unclear picture of the exposure situation. |
