Summary: |
Virginia Commonwealth University has developed these guidelines to ensure that university employees conduct nanotechnology research in a safe and responsible manner. They point out occupational exposure hazards of carcinogenicity, genotoxicity, cytotoxicity, and toxicity. Principal investigators are directed to reduce or eliminate exposure as much as possible through administrative controls, personal protective equipment, work practices, engineering controls, waste disposal, and cleanup of spills. Investigators must also comply with other university policies and in vivo nanomaterial studies must be approved. |
