These safety guidelines are intended to protect students and employees at the Delft University of Technology from nanomaterial dangers. The occupational hygiene strategy consists of: Eliminate, Substitute, Isolate, Ventilate, Personal Protective Equipment (in that order). The goal is to eliminate nanomaterial usage if possible, then to substitute non-nano materials if possible, then to isolate in a closed system if possible, then to ventilate in a fume hood if possible, and lastly to only rely upon personal protective measures if the other measures are inapplicable. A description of each level of the strategy is provided in the guidelines. |
